Call of Duty publisher kicking off indie line-up with new King’s Quest and Geometry Wars
Activision has revived the Sierra brand as a new publishing label for independent games.
The new Sierra will reach out to indie studios working on “innovative, edgy and graphically unique games”, covering both new IP and classic Sierra brands.
The first titles announced for the new label include a brand new King’s Quest title for 2015, a reimagining Sierra’s popular adventure series developed by PB Winterbottom creators The Odd Gentlemen.
Activision has also confirmed a new entry in the Geometry Wars series, developed by Lucis Games and due for release by Christmas.
“Sierra’s goal is to find and work with talented indie developers working on their own amazing projects, or passionate about working on great Sierra IP, and leverage our expertise to aid them in bringing these fun and exciting experiences to games with the level of visibility and awareness they deserve, said senior director of external development Bob Loya.
“In addition to Lucid Games and The Odd Gentlemen, we’re in talks with a large number of other indie devs, and can’t wait to share more details with fans in the near future.”
Activision teased the revival of Sierra last week.
