No new Metal Gear games in the work for any platform, sources claim

Report: Konami stops development of all triple-A console games other than PES

Konami has given up on all triple-A console game development other than Pro Evolution Soccer, reports claim.

French site Gameblog and Eurogamer have both been told that the publisher is no longer interested in console gaming, and all current console projects have been halted or cancelled. It will instead be transition toward mobile titles.

Konami is still working on Metal Gear Online and Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, but has no plans for any further releases. It’s expected however that the firm will continue with its popular football franchise.

Sources have also claimed that no new Metal Gear games are in the works at all, on any platform. This is despite assurances earlier in the year that it would continue the series with a new team, one which it also seemed to be hiring for.

It has been claimed however that no recruitment actually took place following the announcement in March. Kojima Productions will now be disbanded, it claimed.

The news comes on the back of the departure of worldwide technology direction Julien Merceron.
