Japanese publisher Kadokawa has acquired Dark Souls developer From Software, according to reports.
Gamebiz, as translated by Siliconera, claims the publisher will buy an 80 per cent stake in the company. The takeover will allegedly be completed by May 21st.
From Software CEO Naotoshi Zin told Famitsu the acquisition would help the developer expand potential platforms for its games and improve the studio’s global reach.
Kadokawa has previously published games such as Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer is Dead in Japan.
The publisher is expected to officially announce the news to the public later today.
