IGDA Finland chairman Jyri Partanen to head up local base of development network as MD

Remote Control Productions opens Finland office

Remote Control Productions has completed its expansion to Finland.

The German development family announced its plans to move into the Scandinavian territory in 2015.

It partnered with Finnish developer Cursor Oy, which also invests in local start-ups and relocating businesses, to create RCP Finland.

RCP already has ties to the area – it created Angry Birds Epic, a free-to-play RPG spin-off of the popular mobile franchise created by Finnish studio Rovio.

Other RCP games include Son of Nor, DogHotel and John Woo’s Bloodstroke.

Former Rovio and Ubisoft exec Jyri Partanen, who is also chairman of the local Finnish IGDA chapter, will lead RCP Finland as MD.

"We’ve been working successfully with Finnish partners for many years, the developer scene there is one of the most interesting worldwide," said RCP founder and CEO Hendrik Lesser.

“It’s very important for us to work with local talent, and we’re excited to have found the perfect representative for the newly founded subsidiary of our production house. Thanks to his long-term activities in the Finnish games industry and the IGDA, Jyri has built an excellent network. He’s just the right guy to establish RCP Finland as a relevant partner.”

“I first started working with RCP during my time with Rovio,” added Partanen.

“Now I’m really proud to have the opportunity to bring their proven business model to the Finnish eco system. The Finnish gaming industry is still growing and lots of innovative and exciting companies are being founded. It’s the perfect time for RCP Finland.”
