Remedy alumni come together to form VR developer 3rd Eye Studios

Two Remedy Entertainment alumni have come together to found 3rd Eye Studios, a new virtual reality development studio.

The new studio will be based in Helsinki, Finland. Four people are coming together to found 3rd eye. From Remedy Entertainment is Kari Koivistoinen and Kari Huttunen, with Koivistoinen working most recently as a producer on Quantum Break and Huttenen working as a senior environmental artist. Joining the pair is Arja Johansson, who’s spent over a decade with the finnish retail outfit SOK and Tapio Vierros, who was previously the lead programmer at studio Bugbear Entertainment.

In the new lineup, Koivistoinen will be 3rd Eye’s CEO, Huttunen will be the lead artist, Johansson is the head of operations and Vierros is the Lead Programmer. Kolvistolnen broke the news to UploadVR, speaking of an urge to "quit your safe day job and follow your dreams", with the company choosing to pursue virtual reality development after seeing high-end VR devices appear on the market.

The company are hard at work on their first project, a virtual reality anthology series — so far, so Remedy — entitled Downward Spiral, which has been described as a native virtual reality game that’s a mix of Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, with online co-op.
