Famed Dundee studio will hire, make redundancies and downscale

APB studio Realtime Worlds will restructure its workforce following its five-year All Points Bulletin (APB) project.

Of that restructuring, a small number of staff will be made redundant, and a second unnamed project will be downscaled. The group said, however, that it will still be hiring.

A tally of RTW’s headcount will in fact go up in the short term, as the group positions itself for post-release support on APB.

APB, having been built during an extended (and expensive) development phase, is now at the mercy of online adoption.

Despite the disappointing reception from game critics, RTW insisted that it enjoyed “a very smooth launch” for a online title.

Studio CEO Gary Dale added: “We now have to focus our efforts and resources on running APB as a 24/7 online live operation, creating new content and services for the future and ensuring the best possible experience for the players”.
