New model features extra USB ports, better audio and lower power consumption

Raspberry Pi B+ adds improved functionality at the same price

Raspberry Pi has released a new version of its hugely popular credit-card sized computer, the B+.

The model is described as “the final evolution of the original Raspberry Pi”. The GPIO header has grown to 40 pins, and the computer now features four USB 2.0 ports, a micro SD, better audio and lower power consumption.

The new version will still be available for the same price of $35 (£26). It is available to purchase as of today.

“We’ve been blown away by the projects that have been made possible through the original B boards and, with its new features, the B+ has massive potential to push the boundaries and drive further innovation,” said Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton.

Developers and industry professionals recently voted the Raspberry Pi as the top technology in games today, beating the likes of the PS4, Xbox One, Oculus and popular engines to top spot.
