Free-to-play game has garnered six million players since the beginning of January
The number of registered users playing GungHo’s hit free-to-play title Puzzle & Dragons has risen to 12 million.
In fact, in just over three months since the beginning of January, the userbase for the popular game has doubled from six million.
In February, it was claimed that GungHo was making $2m a day from the puzzle and RPG hybrid, accruing $65 million from the title in January alone.
The title has been out since last February on iOS and last September on Android in Japan. It was also released in the US and Europe in November.
It is believed most of the game's success is derived from the Japanese market, having dominated the charts in Japan on both the App Store and Google Play.
The game’s success spurred on Japanese telecommunications firm SoftBank to pay $265 million to increase its share in the company by 20 per cent to 58.5 per cent, a majority stake.
