Developer prepares year-long hiring spree

PopCap ponders going public before 2012

Seattle-based casual games developer PopCap will consider going public by the end of the year, its CEO Dave Roberts has said.

The developer – which has made a name for itself with breakthrough titles such as Plants Vs Zombies, Bejeweled and Peggle – is also pondering adding over 100 employees across the next twelve months.

In an interview with Forbes, Roberts confirmed that the group made over $100 million in revenues across 2011. The studio currently has 400 employees.

“We’ll look at [an IPO] for the second half of next year,” Roberts added.
