Online portal gives devs access to integrations for GitHub, Photon, Appuri and more

PlayFab launches free Services Marketplace

Game operations specialist PlayFab has launched a new online platform for all of its partner services, enabling devs to quickly add new functionality to their games.

The PlayFab Services Marketplace is a one-stop shop for technologies that are already pre-integrated into PlayFab’s back-end services. The objective is to “reduce SDK fatigue” and make it easier for developers to add analytics, monetisation, multiplayer and more to their titles.

The marketplace and PlayFab’s tools are available for free, with no cap on the number of players supported. If they so choose, developers can pay for premium support and the premium Marketplace services.

The first wave of services includes: attribution tracking tool Kochava; analytics services Appuri and Segment; Photon for multiplayer; content management system GitHub; and game operation consulting Adrian Crook & Associates. More services will be added in the near future.

“This is the biggest productivity boost for game developers since Unity launched its asset store in 2010,” said founder and CEO James Gwertzman.

“Modern games depend on sophisticated backend technology to compete. By integrating PlayFab’s unified operations console and core backend services with more specialised best-of-breed services from across the gaming ecosystem, we give game developers the flexibility they need to piece together the perfect backend for their game – and at a fraction of the cost or time of doing it from scratch.

“And since the launch of our Marketplace allows us to provide our core services for free, there’s no reason for any game to launch with a sub-standard backend ever again.”
