Partnership 'could bring millions of new players' to Triple Town, says Disney exec

Playdom to publish Spry Fox indie title

Disney social games subsidiary Playdom has taken on publishing duties for indie Facebook puzzle game Triple Town.

Developer Spry Fox has partnered with the publisher, which will take over operational and marketing responsibilities, as it offered a “fair deal” and has provided them with “advanced tools” for analytics and connecting with players.

“We want to create great, original games,” said Spry Fox’s David Edery.

“We do not wish to spend our time creating a massive company with a huge operational arm, with all the overhead that entails.

“So, we will retain complete creative control of Triple Town on Facebook while Playdom takes care of the many important operational and marketing responsibilities that Spry Fox is not well positioned to manage."

Disney’s senior VP of social games John Spinale added that with the partnership he hoped Playdom could bring “millions of new players” to the title.

Triple Town, released last year and also available on Google+, is a puzzle game where users must build a city, gaining higher scores the larger it gets.
