Tool provider Perforce is expanding its global reach - and is opening an Australian office to service its growing customer base in the country and the entire Asia Pacific region.

Perforce says it software development management tool, the Fast Software Configuration Management System (SCM) is used by over 200,000 developers at 4,000 companies around the world. Free Radical, Sproing and Rocksteady are the most recent announced games developers using the software - although many others use it as well.

Over the past 12 months the firm's client base in Australia has shot up nearly 40 per cent - the country has growing games development and IT software sectors.

“We have carefully managed our growth over the years to ensure that each step maintains our ongoing stability and quality of service,” said Nigel Chanter, chief operating officer of Perforce Software.

“While Asia Pacific has always been an important market for us, the substantial customer growth we have seen in the region over the last year has made opening this office an obvious progression.”
