Palmer Luckey to discuss virtual reality with debut UK talk. Event early bird deadline nears

Oculus Rift inventor to keynote Evolve

Oculus Rift creator and founder of Oculus VR Palmer Luckey is to keynote this December’s Evolve conference in London.

Hardware designer Palmer (pictured), who found fame after his hugely successful $2.4 million Kickstarter campaign for the Oculus Rift VR headset, will deliver a talk titled ‘Virtual Reality: The Holy Grail of Gaming’. His session will explore the potential of virtual reality in the current video games industry.

"I’m excited to be able to share my passion for virtual reality at such an influential and innovative conference," said Palmer Luckey. "Virtual reality has finally arrived and as it matures, it’s going to change games forever. As gamers and developers, we have a lot to look forward to."

"We’re really excited that Palmer is giving the keynote talk at this year’s Evolve in London," added Andy Lane, managing director of Evolve organiser Tandem Events. "The ground-breaking Oculus Rift has been hailed by industry luminaries like Gabe Newell and John Carmack as offering truly immersive and responsive virtual reality for gamers. So we look forward to Palmer sharing a glimpse into the future of gaming."

Oculus Rift has had a sensationally successful pre-production period, employing Scaleform founder Brendan Iribe as CEO, and attracting endorsements from John Carmack, Cliff Bleszinski, Gabe Newell and Markus Persson.

Meanwhile, the Evolve Conference focuses on interactive entertainment technology, emerging platforms and new business models, and brings together a wealth of speakers for a one-day format. Other speakers scheduled include Josh Atkins of Microsoft Soho Productions, Patrick O’Luanaigh from nDreams, and Adam Martin of Red Glasses.

Evolve will take place on 11 December at the DeVere West One, Portland Place, London W1, starting at 10.30am.

The early bird discount of 20 per cent off ticket prices ends November 7th. Visit the event’s official website to purchase conference passes.
