Tech and development firms join forces to demo Project Shield

The tech demo for Nvidia's Project Shield was created using Epic's Unreal Engine 4, the hardware manufacturer has revealed.

Nvidia says this is the first time it has relied on a third party game engine for a product presentation, and that it is now exclusively using the Unreal Engine for such demos.

The Project Shield presentation at CES 13 may have been a landmark in the partnership between these two companies, but it's not like the two haven't been working closely for quite a while.

“As a long-established Unreal Engine partner, we understand the sheer power that Unreal Engine 4 puts into developers’ hands,” said Nvidia's senior vice president of content and technology Tony Tamasi.

“We immediately took the opportunity to utilize UE4’s high-end graphics features and incredible workflow to showcase how our graphics hardware is pushing the industry forward.”
