Nexon opens dev submissions for VR exhibition

Nexon is offering developers from around the world the opportunity to highlight their games as part of a new exhibition focused on virtual reality.

The ‘VR, why just be part of the audience?’ showcase is due to be held in the Nexon Computer Museum over the course of two weeks.

Six winning titles will be selected for display, each based on a different set of attributes. The categories are as follows:

First prizes

• ???? (Sang-Jeon-Byeok-Hae): A "VR project successively expressing a surprising conversion of the world"
• ???? (Mu-Ah-Ji-Kyung): "VR attaining a spiritual state of perfect selflessness"
• ???? (Mul-Ah-Il-Che): "VR granting the experience of VR and oneself as one"
• ???? (Ho-Jeob-Ji-Mong): "VR pulling down the boundary between dream and reality"

Second prizes

• ???? (Yi-Sim-Jeon-Sim): "VR at the level of being able to get the idea of author’s intention"
• ???? (Dong-Sahng-Yi-Mong): "VR acknowledging the difference between VR and reality"

Each first-place prize comes with an award of 1 million won (£586), while second-placed devs will receive 500,000 won (£293).

First-place winners will also be invited for a series of development workshops at Nexon’s offices in Jeju, South Korea, with accommodation provided by the developer-publisher.

Already publically released games or those entered in other competitions are exempt from application. There is no restriction on format, platform or genre.

The competition site is also host to a video teaser for the competition, involving a man lying in what appears to be a park dressed in full scuba gear and clad in a VR headset. Watch it below.
