Aaron Lee switches from freelance to full-time as Crossley goes to CVG; New MCV hire too

New staff writer for Develop

Develop welcomes a new writer to the team in July with the appointment of staff writer Aaron Lee.

Lee will be replacing outgoing online editor Rob Crossley, who is taking up a new role with computerandvideogames.com (CVG) as associate editor next week.

Lee joins the leading trade publication for games developers on July 9th.

21-year-old Lee is currently finishing an MA in Journalism at Goldsmiths, University of London and has also written for The Independent, Pocket Gamer, PC Advisor and EastLondonLines. He has also regularly freelanced for Intent Media’s games titles for the last two years.

At Develop he will work with editor Will Freeman and existing staff writer Craig Chapple to further grow the brand’s international reach across print and online.

French added: "I’m also pleased to welcome Aaron to the team, a journalist we have watched and supported for some time since he first did work experience for us in 2009. Over the years his contributions to the Develop 100 and other projects have been invaluable – he’ll be a credit to the existing team of Will and Craig."

Crossley’s departure comes after a three-year tenure at Develop. He previously wrote for Edge Online, and joins fast-growing consumer games site CVG. His last day at Develop is tomorrow, May 25th.

Meanwhile, sister title MCV has added a new staff writer, too.

Lauren Wainwright replaces Dom Sacco, who is moving up to become deputy editor on Toy News, another of Intent Media’s trade publications.

25-year-old Wainwright is currently finishing a degree in Games Studies and Journalism at London Metropolitan University, but has written for The Sun, GameSpot, IGN, VG247 and Official Xbox Magazine and runs her GMA-nominated blog Daily Girl Attack Panic Super HD Remix. She starts on July 2nd.
