SIGGRAPH: Four GPU machine designed for offline graphical tasks

New NVIDIA server breaks visual records

NVidia has developed the Quadro Plex VCS Model S4, a server that features a record number of GPUs for a 1U-standard size machine.

Designed for data-centric operations like offline rendering and remote graphics applications, the S4 features four Quadro FX 5600 GPUs with a massive 6Gb frame buffer, allowing high-speed computations on huge textures and support for Shader Model 4.0.

The system can also dynamically allocate compute, geometry, shading and pixel processing for optimised GPU performance, and features system monitoring, fault notification and thermal control.

The S4 will be available in the latter part of 2007.
