Mind Pirate's Callisto platform to be used to create games and apps for Google Glass

New incubator for wearable computing launches in Canada

A new incubator is offering developers the chance to create games and apps for wearable computing platforms.

The ideaBOOST/Mind Pirate Production Lab is a three month incubator and a joint effort of Mind Pirate and the Canadian Film Centre.

Developers and companies in the U.S. and Canada are eligible to apply by the 22nd of October at 11:59 PST, with up to six winners chosen.

The six finalists will use Mind Pirate’s own wearable technology platform Callisto, billed as a toolset that helps developers merge the virtual and physical worlds, to create products for wearable computing devices like Google Glass.

Callisto won’t be publicly released to third parties until 2014, so the participants will be among the first to get hands-on experience with one of the first toolsets available for wearable computing.

Teams will be awarded $10,000 in funding, and select products developed as part of the program may be marketed to consumers.

“Having participated in ideaBOOST as a board member, I knew it would be an ideal forum to give developers the opportunity to create exciting, new experiences for the wearable technology megatrend using our Callisto game platform,” said Mind Pirate founder and CEO Shawn Hardin.

“Callisto is the only wearable technology game platform on the market; it gives developers the tools to create engaging experiences that merge the virtual and physical worlds. This program is perfect for developers who are ready to take the leap into the next-generation of gaming. We can’t wait to see what kind of gaming experiences the ideaBOOST/Mind Pirate Production Lab participants will create!”

Finalists will be selected and notified on November 13th, and the program will begin on November 20th at the CFC headquarters in Toronto.

Interested parties should visit the ideaBOOST website for more information.
