The App Store phenomenon to incorporate RIO brand
Entertainment giant Twentieth Century Fox has secured a deal to use the lucrative Angry Birds IP owned by Finland-based developer Rovio.
As part of the deal, a new Angry Birds game will launch in March ahead of the release of previously unrelated Fox motion picture, RIO.
The game – called Angry Birds RIO – will launch on various smartphones and tablets.
The game will be one of the most high-profile social marketing tools used by another entertainment industry. How ‘viral’ the film’s presence will be is a matter of debatem, though the Angry Birds brand has an unbroken track-record of causing media storms.
"Like the incredibly-popular original edition, Angry Birds Rio will feature hours of gameplay, physics-based demolition challenges and loads of replay value - all with unique twists based on the highly-anticipated film,” read a company statement.
