Korean MMO developer confirms Epic agreement with announcement of online game Bless

Neowiz inks Unreal Engine 3 deal

Epic has secured a deal with Korean studio Neowiz Games for the MMO specialist to use Unreal Engine 3 on its forthcoming title Bless.

The deal represents what Epic believes is its most significant in the Asian market to date.

Epic Games Korea, established in 2009 – the same year Bless entered development, drives Unreal Engine licensing in the country, and from its Seoul office provides support to development teams using the UE3 tech across the Korean marketplace.

“When creating a large-scale MMORPG, the most important foundation is having an expandable and robust game engine as the production tool,” said Jacob Han, chief producer of Bless.

“I believe Unreal Engine 3’s spectacular graphics rendering capabilities, among many other elements, make it the best option. And, with the Unreal Landscape tool developed by Epic Games Korea, it allows us to create extremely detailed yet full-scale worlds while utilising less system memory than ever before.”

“It is great to announce one of our most important licensing deals in Korea, and we’re excited to see Neowiz Games’ first MMORPG using Unreal Engine 3,” added Ray Park, territory manager of Epic Games Korea. “Neowiz Games’ extensive knowledge of online games and the technological competitiveness of Unreal Engine 3 should prove a winning combination for Korean gamers.”

Neowiz Games, which has developed a wealth of online games for the Asian markets and worldwide, including FIFA Online 2 and Special Force, also hosts its own online gaming service Pmang.
