Dundee event begins second year on theme of â??characterâ??
The week-long NEoN 2010 digital arts festival has kicked off in Dundee today, with the aim of bringing together digital artists from around the world.
Working on a theme of ‘character’, the festival will feature talks, workshops, exhibitions, commissions, screenings and visual arts performances around the city.
Festival organisers have said that they hope it will generate discussion around how technology can be used across the arts.
“Dundee has a reputation as a pioneer in terms of digital output. NEoN is not only celebrating the phenomenal talent that already exists in the city but its ability to draw international artists and speakers,” said Interactive Tayside project manager Donna Fordyce.
“We see NEoN emerging as a huge annual presence on the international digital media stage. Now only in its second year, the festival has a programme of events that has expanded enormously on last year’s showcase.”
The week’s speakers will include Eidos life president Ian Livingston, Bright Solid’s Chris Van der Kuyl, Ian Anderson from Designers Republic and artist Lars Denicke.
