‘We want to be the Ubisoft of VR publishing,’ says firm behind Oculus and PlayStation VR title The Assembly

nDreams partners with Paw Print to co-fund and publish first third-party VR game

VR developer and publisher nDreams has kicked off its third-party publishing drive by teaming up with independent creator Paw Print Games.

The deal will see nDreams co-found and publish the debut VR title from the Chester-based studio, which had previously worked in the mobile space developing gesture-driven games including Kami Retro.

Paw Print is the first third-party studio backed by nDreams, which itself has launched and is developing a number of games for VR, including Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR adventure title The Assembly.

nDreams added that it will also be helping Paw Print with marketing, PR and sales support ahead of the untitled game’s release in 2017.

Following the news, nDreams CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh told Develop sister site MCV of the firm’s lofty ambitions to be “the Ubisoft of VR publishing”.

“Ultimately, I don’t see why we can’t aim for being the Ubisoft of VR – a really sizeable publisher doing internal and external publishing of really high-quality games in the future,” he elaborated.

"That’s the kind of company I’d love to get to. We’re miles away from that at the moment, but that’s where the ambition is."
