Intel Developer Blog: A free tool to help you manage the development process

If you’re interested in developing cross-platform apps using HTML5, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Intel® XDK has been updated with new features that make it easier to monetise your app and create richer user experiences. Intel XDK is a free tool suite that enables you to manage the development process from build, through test, to packaging for different app stores. It’s available as a free download for Windows, OS X and Ubuntu Linux.

Cordova 3.5 API support has been implemented for all platforms, making it easier for you to access device features through JavaScript. Developers can also take advantage of hundreds of open source Cordova plugins, including Apple In-App Purchase, Google In-app Billing, and Google AdMob for monetising apps; plus Google Maps, and Facebook for enhancing them.

Once you’ve selected the plugins you want from the Apache Cordova Plugins Registry, you can use this guide to add plugins to your app. You can find out how to add adverts from AdMob to your application here.

In this latest release of the Intel XDK, many new services have been added for you to integrate with too, including Flickr and Weather Underground, and there is now OAuth2 support so you can integrate with the new FourSquare and Instagram services.

To find out what else is new, read the extensive release notes, or maybe just download the Intel XDK and have a play!
