Mixamo will launch version 1.0 of its character creation tool Fuse at GDC next week.
The toolset will feature a new import pipeline allowing artists to import full body models which can be customised using available meshes and textures, and a new monthly subscription of $150 for admission to the all access licence. This enables developers to use Fuse, the auto rigger, animation collection and facial animation tech FacePlus.
Mixamo is also releasing an early access version of its new level of detail online service called Decimator that allows artists to adjust the LOD on their models before downloading the asset. This is not currently integrated into other Mixamo products.
The character animation firm will be showing off the tech next week at GDC at booth 832.
“Our new import pipeline opens our end-to-end solution to the world of 3D artists. Fuse now becomes the first step in the Mixamo process for the creation of any user-generated content, not just content added to the library by Mixamo,” said Mixamo creative producer Brent Jentzsch.
“Artists can now import unique IPs from games or characters from other 3D collections, and modify them, rig them and animate them, making the options for character creation virtually endless.”
