14.3 million PC copies of the runaway brick-builder have been paid-for
Minecraft has reached 100 million registered PC users, creator and Mojang founder Markus ‘Notch’ Persson has announced.
That figure accounts for people who have signed up for basic Minecraft accounts, which must be created before downloading the demo from the official Mojang site.
Persson added that the game has attained a “14.3 per cent conversion rate to paid accounts”, which means that, of those 100 million users, approximately 14.3 million went on to purchase the full game.
Month after month, Mojang’s virtual construction kit has been accumulating huge sales since its release in November 2011. The Swedish developer revealed that the game had sold 14 million copies by February 3.
The company also disclosed sales of the Xbox 360 version which now stand at 10 million.
