More staff employed as Mojang continues expansion

Minecraft hits 1m sales milestone

Indie game sensation Minecraft has passed its millionth customer landmark, the game’s creator has said.

The PC title, which launched as a so-called ‘Alpha edition’ in June last year, has brought fame and fortune to its principal designer Markus Persson.

Perrson confirmed via his Twitter account that "Minecraft just passed one million copies sold".

Minecraft’s popularity surged last year, and during the summer Perrson was said to be earning around $350,000 each day from sales of the game.

Persson, who has already been offered job interviews from the likes of Valve and Bungie, decided instead to set up his own studio – Mojang Specifications.

The outfit is growing steadily, and Perrson recently announced on his blog that two new employees have joined.
