Rahul Sood forms new start-up

Microsoft Ventures GM resigns

The GM of Microsoft Ventures has resigned from the firm to pursue his own venture.

The news in Rahul Sood’s personal blog, where the now former GM said he would be starting up a new business called Unikrn, though no further details of what the business would do were provided.

Sood was one of the founders of the Microsoft Ventures program designed to help start-ups get off the ground by providing them with office space and access to Microsoft expertise and mentoring. It currently operates seven accelerators around the world in Bangalore, Beijing, Berlin, London, Paris, Redmond and Tel-Aviv.

“Now that Microsoft Ventures is up and running and in a good place I think it’s about damn time for me to jump out and risk everything again,” he said.

“I basically created my dream job and now I’m leaving it – this is the kind of crazy shit entrepreneurs do (or at least I keep telling myself that!). My gaming past continues to drive unrest inside me, starting with Voodoo, and then advising various companies including Razer and Vrvana."

As well as Microsoft, Sood has previously worked at Hewlett-Packard and was also the founder and president of Voodoo PC.
