LittleBigPlanet 2 ousted via numerous news reports and magazine scans

Media Molecule has broken silence on the existence of LittleBigPlanet 2, after a rush of revealing news reports and magazine features emerged over the weekend.

That the Sony-owned Guildford studio is working on LBP2 was no mystery. Rumours of the project had - in typical Sony fashion - circulated for months. Develop had previously been told that the studio is working on a second, as yet unannounced, title.

Details of the game are circulating the net via information outlined in various print magazines, from Game Informer to Edge. All reveal that the game will extensively expand on the user-generated content model.

LittleBigPlanet 2 will allow players to create entire games of different genres. It is said that games built in testing included racers, shooters, puzzle titles and RPGs. One Media Molecule designer has reportedly managed to build a Command & Conquer clone, using the game's new AI-building tools.

DLC from the first game will be transferable to the sequel, and Sony is expected to reveal much more at the upcoming E3 conference in June.

Sony acquired Media Molecule in March for an unannounced sum, adding to the platform holder's fleet of Worldwide Studios.
