The new venture from former members of EA outlet Maxis has racked up more than $2 million in its first round of funding.
Magic Fuel Games was founded last year by veterans of the Sims, SimCity and Spore developer.
Now the San Francisco-based startup has been bolstered by $2.4 million in investment from Chinese games company Seasun Games during its initial round of Series A funding.
The studio is yet to reveal its first project, but said in the announcement it would be focusing on “next-generation mobiles games targeted at a global market”.
It added that it would be looking to expand its workforce in the coming months.
“Partnering with Seasun Games gives us valuable insight into the hugely important Chinese market,” said Magic Fuel CEO Kevin Shrapnell.
“Their knowledge and resources are helping us better understand how we develop our product and grow our team, positioning us for success.”
Seasun VP Kris Kwok added: "We really enjoy working with such talent on exciting new projects. It has been a fulfilling experience. I look forward to collaborating on future endeavours.”
