Red Entertainment, the Japanese games studio founded over 27 years ago, has been acquired by Chinese developer Ultizen.
Financial terms of the buyout were not disclosed.
Red Entertainment’s IP includes Sakura Wars, Tengai Makyou and Scared Rider Xechs.
The firm is now said will work closely with Ultizen to jointly develop online PC projects. The firm will also jump onto smart phone games. Five projects are in the pipeline.
“The future of our industry depends on our ability to create new game ideas that captivate our users and to extend those brands to other platforms such as smart phones," said Ultizen CEO Haiwen Lan.
