11-day celebration of capital’s games industry aims to attract 50,000 visitors

London Games Festival returns next March

The London Games Festival, which debuted this year, will return once again on March 30th.

According to organiser Games London – a joint venture between Film London and trade body UKIE – the celebration will run from March 30th to April 9th and will encompass multiple events throughout the 11 days.

Highlights include consumer show EGX Rezzed, the BAFTA Games Awards, the Games Finance Market, and Now Play This. More events are planned around eSports and the Festival Fringe.

This year, LGF managed to attract over 38,000 people. For 2017, Games London hopes to grow this to 50,000.

The festival has secured the backing of Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, as well as £1.2m in funding from the London Enterprise Panel.

“London is a global destination for culture and creativity, and the interactive entertainment sector is playing an increasingly important part in this,” said Khan. “Games London focuses on harnessing the city’s talent, with the ultimate aim of making London the world capital for video games.

“It’s fantastic to see the festival expanding in scope, reach and ambition, and connecting London-based talent with overseas investment partners – further proof that our city is open for business.”
