London Games Festival announces 2018 dates

The London Games Festival will return in 2018 between April 5th and April 15th. Since its launch in 2016, the festival has dramatically increased in prominence. The 2017 festival saw over 50,000 people attended the festival with 40 events across the ten days.

The festival also estimates that the Games Finance Market section of the festival has brought a potential £20 million in potential business during April 2017. Since 2016 the festival overall has driven more spending in London and the games industry with over £30 million of potential business being given back to local companies.

2018 will see the continuation of the festivals biggest draws including the aforementioned Game Finance Market, EGX Rezzed and the BAFTA Game Awards. There will also be a new HUB event on April 9th and 10th, which will house B2B summits, a demo area for startups and prototypes and a co-working space.

There will also be a bigger drive for representation in gaming this year, following the successful Games character Parade. An exhibition of BAME games artists is also planned. The festival is backed once again by the Mayor of London.

"London leads the world in culture, creativity and technology and the city’s games industry plays a major part in that success, said Mayor of London, Sadiq Kahn. "In just a couple of years, the London Games Festival has become a major attraction for consumers and professionals alike and Games London is delivering significant investment for our cutting-edge tech sector – showing that London is open to creativity and innovation and open for business.”
