Loading Human dev switches from Unity to Unreal Engine 4

Untold Games joins CCP in making the switch for VR games

The studio behind VR game Loading Human has switched development from Unity to Unreal Engine 4.

Created by Untold Games, the title puts players into a sci-fi world as they travel the universe to save their father. The concept for the game has been approved for Sony’s upcoming VR headset Project Morpheus.

To help develop the game, Untold has started a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and hopes to raise $30,000 for the project. At the time of writing the game has raised more than $4,500.

Loading Human is currently planned for release in 2015.

“After such a positive response to the early Loading Human proof of concept, we felt that to truly realise the game’s potential we had to go back to the drawing board,” said Untold Games CEO Flavio Parenti.

“So we have completely rewritten the storyline as well as adopting a true next-generation development engine. It is exciting for us to finally be able to introduce the world to the complicated love story of Prometheus and Alice, as well as transfer development to the new Unreal Engine 4.”

Untold Games’ jump from Unity to Unreal Engine 4 comes shortly after CCP also publicly announced it would be making the same switch for its VR title Eve: Valkyrie. The studio said moving to Unreal “made sense” as most of its team already had experience with the game engine from Dust 514.

In March, Epic revealed it would be making UE4 available to developers for a $19 a month subscription fee, and would take five per cent of gross revenue from any sales.
