Epic Games is to host a new live version of its Make Something Unreal contest at next year’s Gadget Show, the studio has announced.
Co-sponsored by Train2Game, the competition will take place over the course of the next six months featuring the winners of this weekend’s Epic Game Jam, and will culminate in a real-time dev contest at the event.
The winner of Make Something Unreal Live will receive a commercial Unreal Engine 3 license for iOS.
Epic Games’ Mike Gamble said: “In a mere five days, these developers will kick-start their careers in an intense competition that will ultimately result in one team walking away a professional studio, with a full source Unreal Engine 3 license for iOS in hand.”
The event will take place in Birmingham, starting on the 11th April and finishing on the 15th, with contestants competing to create a game for the iOS platform.
Epic Game’s and Train2Game’s dev competition will take place this weekend between the 4th and 6th of November at the University of Bedfordshire.
The winners will then have six months to start their projects, with “industry veterans” providing guidance to developers till the show begins.
Epic Games said it is expecting more than 100,000 attendees to watch the live game jam.
