Lego Dimensions releases to end confirms Warner Bros

The great licence experiment has come to an end following rumours over the last five days. Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and TT Games will cease to produce further expansion packs for Lego Dimensions.

In a statement given to our sister site MCV, a representative said, "Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group would like to thank fans for their ongoing support of LEGO Dimensions. After careful consideration, we will not be producing new expansion packs for the game beyond what is now available. We will continue to provide ongoing server and customer support for all LEGO Dimensions packs. Existing packs will continue to work interchangeably and will remain available for purchase."

Lego Dimensions released in 2015 in the toys-to-life genre but received plaudits for combining multiple licences in a cohesive and entertaining way. The Doctor Who and Portal 2 expansion packs are considered to be stand out moments for the game. It combined everything from The Lego Movie, The Wizard of Oz, The Lord of the Rings and the Powerpuff Girls to create an eclectic collection of Lego figures and gameplay levels.

There is no information yet on how this will affect developer TT Games who has been producing Lego titles during the release period of Lego Dimensions, or what will be happening next at the studio. The next release, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, is due in November and no further titles have been publically announced at this stage.
