New collaboration will only be accessible to backers of the LA Game Space

Keita Takahashi, creator of the cult series Katamari Damacy, is making a game with Adam Saltsman, the indie developer behind hit mobile platform game, Canabalt.

Unveiled yesterday, the game will only be available to those who pledge at least $5 to the Kickstarter project, LA Game Space, which is described as “a non-profit centre for video game art, design and research.” No other details are yet know about the game.

The project plans to establish exhibitions, residencies and research labs, with discussions by speakers from industry fellows and beyond.

And for those outside LA, events will be live streamed online and those watching will be invited to participate, with free access to video archives.

While backers need only pledge $5 to receive the Takahashi-Saltsman collaboration, those paying $15 or more will receive a collection of over 30 games and prototypes from the creators of Hotline Miami, Unfinished Swan, Bit.Trip, Nidhogg and more.

At the time of writing the project has raised $146,039 of its $250,000 goal, with 9 days left to go. See the LA Game Space project page for more.
