Kabam: " game didn't meet our internal expectations"
Kabam has cancelled its Legacy of Zeus project and is now taking steps to "wind down that specific game team".
This has been reported by GamesIndustry.biz, who have a statement from Kabam's COO Kent Wakeford, who told GI.Biz that Legacy of Zeus didn't meet their expectations when it hit beta testing. "The game didn't meet our internal expectations, and we made the difficult decision to pull it from the App Store and wind down that specific game team. And we don't take that lightly because it does impact people's lives and people worked very diligently to create a very beautiful game."
Late last year, Kabam agreed to sell its Vancouver studio along with chunks of its Austin, San Francisco and London operations to Netmarble in December. It said at the time that it was also looking to sell its Beijing, Los Angeles, and San Francisco studios at a later time. It's unsure what this cancellation means for these plans, although Beijing is now a small group of employees, and Wakefield has said that the company's biggest current asset is now its Los Angeles studio, which is currently working on a licensed Avatar game as well as another licensed game that is still unannounced.
