The founder of Juice Games has formed a new studio in Cheshire with a number of other leading devs from the now defunct company.
Speaking to Develop, Don Whiteford said Nomad Games will focus on mobile and digital distribution, with the potential to also release games on XBLA and PSN.
Currently working out of the offices of the now closed THQ Digital Warrington, Whiteford, who takes on the role of commercial director, said it is currently looking for a new place to work in the area.
As well as working mainly on touch-screen devices, he said PC had come back on the agenda, whilst other platforms such as Smart TV and e-readers were also possibilities
Developers currently at the studio consist solely of former Juice Games and THQ Digital Warrginton staff, including Matt Draper as development director, Rob Anderson as Technical directort, Carl Jackson as design director and Andrew Bate as artist.
Whiteford said there were plans to expand the studio on a per project basis, working with companies such as Alien Apple, D3T and other ex-THQ Digital staff.
“We formed the company last year after the closure of THQ Digital in Warrington,” he told Develop.
“We’d started exploring digital only delivery and mobile platforms and we saw a tremendous opportunity for a small team in spaces that didn’t really exist when we set Juice Games up, nine years before. Plus we had an on-going relationship with a licensor that we wanted to explore.”
Nomad Games hopes to reveal its debut title within the next few weeks.
