Camelot and Azteq score strategic partnership for mobile gaming content using new hardware SDK

Japanese We Love Golf dev invests in US mobile firm

US mobile technology firm Azteq has formed a financial and strategic partnership with Japanese developer Camelot.

Camelot, responsible for Nintendo games such as Golden Sun, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis, plus Capcom’s upcoming Wii game We Love Golf, plans to provide Azteq with capital investment. The studio has also promised to develop new mobile games content for Azteq’s hardware SDK.

Azteq’s toolzQit is designed to mirror the familiarity of the console games development environment on a mobile phone.

“Camelot is world renowned for developing the most exciting games in history and we are delighted to have their support and commitment for our unique solution,” commented Shin’ichi Okamoto, member of the Board of Directors at Azteq.

“As we ready our offering for commercial deployment, we are putting the pieces in place to secure broad consumer adoption of our platform. Rich content and early developer feedback will be a key to our success, and Camelot fills both these critical needs.”

Hiroyuki Takahashi, representative president of Camelot, added: “Azteq’s mobile service concept, as well as the technology to make the concept happen are very unique, especially in mobile technological space where voice calls and emails are still primary uses. Since we believe that Azteq’s unique ideas and technologies are essential to realize our futuristic picture of on-line services, we are pleased to announce our intention to support and assist Azteq through both the capital investment and the strategic partnership.”
