'As an industry we have a lot to learn on how to treat talent' says ex-Call of Duty man

Infinity Ward exec Bowling forms indie outfit

Robert Bowling, the former ‘creative strategist’ who resigned from Infinity Ward in March, has launched his own indie games studio focused on digital projects.

Los Angeles outfit Robotoki has begun a hiring run and has targeted games for next-gen consoles, PC, and mobile devices.

“As an industry we have a lot to learn on how to treat talent,” Bowling told GameInformer.

“While we continue to out stride film and music entertainment in other areas, we are falling severely behind in how to properly inspire and support our creative talent,” he added.

Bowling has not explicitly stated why he departed from Call of Duty outfit Infinity Ward, and may be contractually limited to discussing certain matters. However, considering his eagerness to discuss the treatment of creative talent, it suggests this was an issue he faced at his previous employer.

“I wanted to create an environment where the creative vision holders held complete control over their work and could guide and maintain it from concept to execution,” Bowling added.
