Triple-A giants disclose plans to work on new systems

Infinity Ward and Rockstar join race for next-gen

Infinity Ward and Rockstar are the latest studios to begin work on next-generation consoles, according to recent job postings.

The Call of Duty developer mentioned its work on the new platforms in a job listing posted on its official site.

It stated it was looking for someone “preferably with experience in game development and an interest in working with next-generation technologies.”

Meanwhile, Rockstar posted a similar job vacancy on its website for environmental artists, but this has since been amended, with all mention of next-generation development removed.

The news that the two blockbuster studios are working on next-gen systems is unsurprising, but it is important to note that they are now openly taking on staff for new console development.

Develop has previously reported that several internal Sony studios have begun work on PS4 titles, whilst next-gen Xbox dev kits are believed to have reached studios at EA and Ubisoft in December.

Sony and Microsoft remain silent on next generation plans.
