Blitz Games Studios lends name to international dev competition

IndieCity joins Global Game Jam

IndieCity, the indie games portal from Blitz Games Studios, will be running a Global Game Jam session with Birmingham City University from Friday 28th January to Sunday 30th January.

The 48-hour international game development competition, now entering its third year, will see teams of students and indie games developers battle it out to create the best game from start to finish within the allotted time period.

The Birmingham event will be held at the University’s Millennium Point, and is expected to see up to 30 participants in attendance along with IndieCity community manager Scott MacKintosh.

“We’re really excited to be teaming up with Birmingham City University to host the first IndieCity Global Game Jam,” MacKintosh said.

“It’s an awesome opportunity to bring indie developers together and we’re really looking forward to seeing what they all come up with.

“We would especially like to thank Birmingham City University for hosting the jam, and Audiomotion and bluegfx for sponsoring the food and drink for all participants.”

Course director of the BSc (Hons) Computer Games Technology course at Birmingham City University Andrew Wilson spoke of his pleasure at being involved.

“It is really exciting for Birmingham City University to be asked by IndieCity to be part of this innovative global gaming event,” he said.

“The chance for our students who are studying on a variety of different courses within our University including games technology, software design and animation to work with other students and enthusiastic game designers from around the UK and the world is a unique and invaluable opportunity for them.”
