World-building adventure game has sold more than 3,000 copies a day since release last year

Indie hit Terraria coming to XBlA and PSN

Indie sensation Terraria will be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next year following huge success for the title ib PC.

Since release in May 2011, the game has sold more than 1.6 million copies, equivalent to more than 3,000 downloads a day.

The 2D side-scrolling sand box game, similar to Mojang’s breakout hit Minecraft, is a world building title that allows users to craft their own weapons, build their own homes and travel to various dungeons.

The game was created by indie developer Re-Logic led by Andrew Spinks.

The PSN and XBLA version of Terraria will be published by 505 Games.

"I can’t say how excited I am to finally have Terraria come to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3,” said Spinks.

“To see it come so far is a complete shock, especially after such humble beginnings. It’s always been my dream to have as many people as possible know and enjoy Terraria as much as I have, and this is another big step in that direction.

“It’s been awesome working with 505 Games, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the additional features that they’ve been able to bring to this new edition of the game."
