Deadlines for main and student showcase Oct. 17th and 31st respectively
Submissions for the 2013 Independent Games Festival are now open.
The longest running showcase and summit for indie games, the IGF is held annually at GDC in San Francisco.
Deadlines for the main and student showcase are October 17 and 31 respectively.
This year the number of finalists in each category has been expanded to six, which will be announced in January.
Nearly $60,000 in prizes are up for grabs, and after a whopping 850 entries last year, it's sure to be a hot contest.
Previous winners include Spelunky, Fez, Minecraft, Limbo, World of Goo, Braid, Castle Crashers, Everyday Shooter, and many more of the most important games on the indie scene.
"All of us here at the IGF are eager to see this year's selection of games," said IGF Chairman Brandon Boyer.
"Each year, the community manages to outpace itself in innovation and artistry, and we expect nothing less for this 15th anniversary Festival."
"In the same spirit of that evolution, we've given our submission system an overhaul that should greatly enhance the experience for both our entrants and our judges alike, and look forward to hearing your feedback. Best of luck to all entrants -- we can't wait to see what you create!"
The sister Indie Games Summit will be held March 25-26 at San Francisco's Moscone Center, and the IGF Pavilion will be open on the expo floor from the 27-29th.
