But high-end console game will be built using both in-house and outsourced talent says chairman Hassan
UTV Ignition has decided not to can its long-in-the-making action game WarDevil – but the game is being renamed as part of the firm’s studio review.
Last month we reported that the London studio faced difficulties with some staff let go and the WarDevil project canned.
But now Ignition says the game will be finished, now called Project Kane, and built via a mix of in-house development and outsourcing.
“Following a comprehensive audit of the title, assets and internal team, we have decided that a core team responsible for the Project Kane prototype will take the game into full production, led by the key vision holders," said Hassan Sadiq, group chairman of UTV Ignition, in a statement.
"There has been speculation recently about this project but our vision has always been to create top quality content both with internal and external partners and this latest commitment combines the best of the DNA behind the original project vision with some of the creative talent available in the broader industry. Outsourcing ensures flexibility and broader expertise that will dovetail perfectly with internal skill sets to speed up the process and ensure a title of true excellence."
At the London studio executive producer Shaun Gwilliam will lead the management team.
Project Kane’s design director Julian Glover added: "We have cherry picked from some of the world’s best teams to build our UK studio which includes personnel whose combined previous development credits include Burnout 3, Crysis, Little BigPlanet, and Heavenly Sword. We are extremely excited to fast-track development of Project Kane.”
The game is due for release during Q4 2011.
