Idea Fabrik integrates UltimatePay monetisation platform into online development solution HeroCloud

HeroEngine outfit inks PlaySpan deal

Middleware company Idea Fabrik has secured a deal with monetisation firm PlaySpan that will see the latter’s UltimatePay technology integrated into the HeroCloud games engine.

Idea Fabrik’s HeroCloud is a cloud-hosted version of the popular HeroEngine, which is primarily intended for use making MMOs, having been used for numerous high-profile games including BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The new deal will allow HeroCloud users to take advantage of Visa-owned PlaySpan’s microtransactions and subscriptions billing support technology.

“PlaySpan provides a proven one-stop global monetisation solution to the ever expanding selection of global billing methods,” said Cooper Buckingham, director of business development for Idea Fabrik. “UltimatePay will be used across our web services and within the online game platform offering developers the flexibility between subscription-based and/or free-to-play revenue models for their games allowing players to make in-game purchases, rather than having to exit the game to buy game currency.”

“The agreement with Idea Fabrik is an exciting look into the evolution of the online games business and how global gaming leaders are transitioning to more proven payment platforms,” said Karl Mehta, founder and CEO of PlaySpan, which currently serves more than 100 global payment methods in 180 countries.

“PlaySpan is committed to working with our partners to offer the next generation of monetisation services, making payments more reliable, secure, and simple," added Mehta.

The deal will also allow Idea Fabrik and HeroCloud users to harness fraud prevention, analytics and risk management technology.
