Christian Allen looking to bring 'hardcore tactical shooter' to market

Halo: Reach lead begins Kickstarter project

Former Ghost Recon and Halo: Reach lead designer Christian Allen has taken to Kickstarter to fund his latest project.

According to his Kickstarter page, as spotted by Eurogamer, Allen is looking to develop a “hardcore, tactical shooter” with his new indie studio Serellan LLC, which he says has been lacking from the market in recent years.

The game is described as “objective-based with non linear missions” that can be played through single player, with users command their own squads, and in multiplayer and co-op format.

He is looking to raise $200,000 to create the game, and has 27 days left to meet the target.

At the time of writing, the title has received $8,583 in contributions.

“For years, fans of tactical shooters have been crying out for someone to make a quality, hardcore, CQB tactical shooter,” said Allen.

“But in contrast to these requests, game publishers eschew realism and tactics in exchange for ease of use and ‘cinematic’ flavour. This campaign aims to see if my theory that real tactical shooters aren’t dead, and that enough people want one to justify the cost of development.”

Those giving donations will be able to buy a Silver, Gold or Platinum level, allowing them varying degrees of influence over the game.

Silver level supporters for example will be able to vote for certain weapons and features, whilst gold level donators will be able to submit potential content for the game.
