New start-up aims to combine mobile gaming with cardio workouts

Guitar Hero founders form fitness games start-up

The founders of RedOctane and the Guitar Hero franchise have formed a new fitness games start-up called Blue Goji.

The US-based company aims to create cardio exercises blended with immersive gameplay. The developer hopes to create social workout experiences, and plans for each title to track personal fitness goals.

The new company plans to do this by combining smartphones and tablets with cardio equipment such as treadmills, stationary bicycles and elliptical machines.

Blue Goji’s projects are currently undergoing private user testing, with further information on its operations to be announced in the coming months.

The studio is currently taking applications on its website from developers to create titles for the platform.

“Our goal is to help people lead healthier and more active lives by providing anyone across all fitness levels with a fun way to work out, one that is accessible and compelling to use,” said Blue Goji co-founder and CEO Kai Huang.

‘With Blue Goji, we’re developing a platform to support a variety of entertainment content that enables people to immerse themselves in their workout routines for a more enjoyable and social experience.”
