Financial difficulties force Death Inc. creator to disband

Guildford developer Ambient Studios shuts down

Guildford-based developer Ambient is to close its doors, it has announced.

In a statement on the team’s official website, the developer behind Monster Meltdown and Death Inc. said it had been forced to shut down due to financial difficulties.

After what it called a difficult decision, the developer decided it was no longer feasible to continue operations.

It claimed that despite financial difficulties, all backers of the Alpha version of Death Inc would be refunded in full.

“It’s time for a sad announcement: Ambient is shutting its doors,” read a statement from the studio.

“It’s been an amazing ride and we’ve produced some amazing products like Monster Meltdown and Death Inc. We’re super proud of what we achieved, but ultimately we didn’t manage to make enough money to keep the wolves from the door. And so we had to make the difficult decision that it is no longer feasible for Ambient to continue operating.

“Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement along the way, we’ve got no regrets and have loved every minute of it.”

Ambient had recently attempted to generate funds to keep the development of Death Inc. going with a Kickstarter campaign for the title. The studio failed however to raise the £300,000 required to fund the title, garnering just £122.000.
