Sony reveals year-on-year PSN traffic and revenue spike at GDC
Revenues from the online PlayStation Store have risen 70 per cent year-on-year.
Sony made the announcement at the 2011 Games Development Conference in San Francisco as part of its PlayStation Network Analysis panel.
SCEA digital distribution manager Pierre Gravereau also revealed that traffic to the PlayStation Store increased by 60 per cent in 2010 compared to the previous year.
He said that worldwide sales of PS3 reached 41.6m while more than 80 per cent of the consoles are connected to the internet. Additionally, over 70m PSN accounts have been registered, up from 69m in January.
The PlayStation Store allows users to purchase and download content such as games, wallpapers, films and DLC.
